Microneedling

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves using a small, handheld device called a derma roller or a derma pen to create tiny punctures in the skin. These punctures are called microchannels or micro-injuries, and they stimulate the body's natural healing process to promote the production of collagen and elastin.

The microneedling process is typically performed by a licensed aesthetician or dermatologist. During the procedure, the skin is first cleaned and numbed with a topical anesthetic. The derma roller or derma pen is then passed over the skin, creating tiny punctures that are about 0.5 to 2 millimeters deep. The procedure usually takes about 20-30 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area.

After the microneedling procedure, the skin may be red and slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. The recovery time typically takes about 1-2 days, and patients are advised to avoid direct sunlight and use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

Microneedling is often used to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and other skin imperfections. It can also improve the overall texture and tone of the skin. Microneedling is generally safe, but it's important to follow proper aftercare instructions to prevent infection and other complications.
